Sunday Musings from the Davenport

By

The title today is a play on words. Think of a furniture company from Massachusetts or the name of several cities/towns from around the world.

Fifty plus years of unfettered capitalism in the United States has led to this travesty in the office of the president. How can people my age or older still hold onto their allegiance to the failure of our society (The Republican Party.) I have never seen a mental illness so persistent as this one… I take meds for depression… They need something stronger than Prozac.

When you are in a crowded place, do you stop paying attention to your surroundings? Are you expecting everyone else to get out of your effing way? Who died and made you the most important person in this crowd? Do you suffer from narcissism level 13?

Your brain can’t do two things at once. The idea of multi-tasking is just your brain shifting between tasks quickly. To the woman pulling the wagon, talking to her friend, and walking at the Farmer’s market yesterday… Please stop multi-tasking… You failed at pulling your wagon, talking, and walking at the speed of the line!!!! When a man with a cane can pass you like a bullet train… it demonstrates a lack of awareness within your environment, and a failure to multi-task epically!!!

How does one become so arrogant to believe that their belief should somehow be the structure of the morality around the country?

What delusion does one have, to have to use fear as their primary weapon of governance?

How ignorant does a populace have to be to allow someone whose wife and kids live in Kansas be allowed to run for governor in Iowa? (He has a property in Iowa, claims it as his residence, but is in Kansas more than he is at the Iowa property.)

How can the Republican Party claim to be the fiscally responsible party when each time you have a president in office the national debt balloons like a man eating baked beans 24/7? Mike Johnson, could you explain this? Or your addiction to spending money on blowing the shit out of everyone or anything?

I feel the United States really needs to reassess their multimedia habits and start reading again.

President George Washington was an awful human being. Did he accomplish great things? Sure. I’ll let that slide, but when you own other human beings, and are vain enough to believe that everything you write must be copied and saved… says a lot about your humanity. He was fallible, not a deity to be worshipped.

I wonder how it feels to be ranked 45th out of 45? Even James Buchanan and Warren Harding beat you!!! They were inept. What is worse than inept?

John Coltrane’s ability to improvise over complex chord changes using all 12 notes of the chromatic scale while sounding completely natural blows my mind. When I improvise, I usually find several wrong notes sneak in to my solo, two chords in. He was a rocket scientist of musical tonality. I barely can ride a bike compared to him. Anyone else feel that way?

I wonder when John Adams is going to write this opera we are acting out? What will he call it?

If the late Senator Lindsey Graham was a great American Patriot, then who was the late Senator John McCain? If you ask me, Senator McCain was the actual patriot, despite our political differences.

Purity is the cloak the wolf puts on to make himself look like an ally before eating you.

The number of people who don’t know the difference between equity and equality is astounding… that goes for socialism, communism, and fascism too…

Rye bread makes for a better sandwich…

Why do we need napkins and paper towels? Paper towels are far more versatile in their use… Illusion of choice, maybe???

I’m a member of antifa… I think… if it really existed…

The Republican Party and Country Music is a lot like a loaf of white bread. Very little substance, no nutrition value, and flavorless….

I would like to thank the Incas and Aztecs for inventing peanut butter, and George Washington Carver for helping to diversify farming in the South. Without both contributions my addiction to Peanut Butter Cups and Fast Break bars would not be possible.

Am I the only one asking for a Rage Against the Machine reunion? We need them now more than ever.

Sometimes I feel like I am stuck in the “Matrix.” This craziness can’t be real. It has to be a simulation… When will I see Morpheus? Laurence Fishburne, I could use your help, please. You are one of my favorite actors of all time!!!

One last one… I read banned books, to support the author, to piss off the establishment, and find out what got the banner’s undies in a bunch…

In the immortal words of Frank Zappa… “Don’t eat yellow snow.” …so it goes…
