Did you know that thinking about thinking is called metacognition? Do you reflect about your decision making that you gave considerable thought to? Do you overthink things considerably? Thinking has been part of my personal experiences since my childhood. I remember delivering newspapers as a child; riding my bike from house to house. I used to get lost in thought and I sometimes I would wonder if I missed a house. Most of this thinking comes from the act of dissenting or disagreeing with how things are functioning in the society around me… so… Why not write a blog about thinking…
I wonder, “When I ask someone, what are you thinking?” Why do they respond with “Nothing.” Are they truly empty headed? No internal voice or monologue? Do they lack an imagination? What is life like for them without the benefit of internal thinking processes? Are they always searching for something outside of themselves for entertainment?
I wonder, “Do any of the sycophants in DC running our government think about anything other than themselves?” Every decision seems to be made with selfish intent. How can this make me a profit? How can this make profit for my family or friends? How can I show my power and influence? This pattern of two dimensional thinking doesn’t even make an attempt to hide the corruption. Does this form of two dimensional thinking come from trauma or just entitled bias? How sad are these people when they are by themselves? Obsession with stuff…
I wonder, “How can an individual harm another individual or animal?” What makes a person so arrogant that they feel every other animal in the world is a trophy to be used? What makes a person neglect pets they share their homes with? Or even people? What causes a person to objectify people and animals? Why can’t they see the emotion in others or in animals? It boggles my mind that people like the sycophants in DC just don’t care how their decisions are affecting millions if not billions of people….
I wonder, “How does one defend the ideals of capitalism while watching millions suffer from the ideals they worship?” Is this cognitive blindness? Is this selfishness? Is this greed?
I wonder, “If my dog Mack could talk and think like me, what would we talk about?” Imagine our world becomes much like a Hanna Barbera Cartoon where dogs are near cognitive equals to humans. How would our relationships be the same or different with them?
I wonder, “No heaven above us, no hell below us.” John Lennon’s lyric from Imagine; was how everyone believed. How would the world be if everyone treated their mortal life and all other’s lives with the same dignity and respect they give their faith practice? Would cultural designations still be an excuse to go to war? Morality as a societal construct rather than a religious cultural construct.
I wonder, “What would life be like if we required politicians to be experts in a researched area of humanity?” or better yet… “we required politicians to use verified research to make decisions?” Would sycophants throughout history ever make it to power? Would biases be recognized as academic and cultural equals? Would ignorance be treated equal to intelligence or would intelligence put the ignorant in their place?
I wonder, “How much better would the United States be if we spent the pentagon’s budget on free education, economic security for the populace, healthcare, and humanist causes rather than war?” I look at the development of democratic socialism in Europe and despite its imperfection is far superior than the neoliberal capitalist philosophy the U.S. embraces. I wish others could read and listen to the testimony of our citizens of the world.
I wonder if we could place a cell phone jammer in every automobile and truck on the highway that was tamper proof. Imagine if everyone had to pay attention to driving rather than distracting themselves with their device…. I wonder… does this make me sound like an authoritarian? LOL…
I wonder if we could regulate the MLB and cap profits and salaries of both players and owners. No one should be a big time multi-millionaire for only hitting the ball 25% of the time, or having an ERA of 5.00. Ownership groups need to build their own stadiums and any profits beyond the cap be placed in a fund to raise salaries of minor leaguers and market the game to our youth. I love the game, but I hate the greed… The pastime used to be affordable.
I wonder so many things. How can I make lives better? How can I do this without having to run for an office and argue with the cognitive dissonance of greedy zealots? What things could we all do together to make the world a better place? These are some of the many things I think about or have thought about in the past week. I support democratic thinking, but some things cause me to be authoritarian in nature… Blasted cell phones…
What if all of us introverts united together separately in our own homes? …could we cripple capitalism??? …so it goes…
