Hello again! This blog is not written by any artificial means. This blog is strictly analog. The words dance from my fingers from a keyboard and onto a screen. You should see the wear spot on the space bar from my right thumb. There is a divot there too. Pretty soon the plastic will be worn through and there will be a hole for me to insert my thumb into.

I dissent with the use of artificial intelligence. I despise the creation of data centers as they require natural resources that humans need first. These resources are water and energy, specifically electrical energy. Our power grid and water table are not designed to be pushed to extremes. The executive order that eliminated all restrictions on artificial intelligence was signed by $47 in the first month of his term. Deregulation seldom works for the people. It works for the industry, specifically the tech and information industry. With the goal of profiting handsomely… Billyuns and Billyuns of dollars…

I dislike google for giving me an AI search parameter ahead of the list of sources I am more interested in. They are not giving me a choice in the matter, as they shove it down my throat. This isn’t a democracy it is forced capitalist fascism disguised as helpful information. I scroll past 95% of the time. The other 5% answered a useless trivia question or offered me a good dad joke.

I dislike tech industry wizards cold contacting me on LinkedIn wanting to lure me from education of children toward educating their artificial intelligence on music. Screw that business. I want the damn gizmo to go to class, and then practice 2.5 hours a day to compose, sing in pitch, and play an instrument. If they do that, the technology will learn how to breathe, emote, and provide artistic integrity… I hate artificial intelligent music. It lacks expression. It plays notes. Frequencies based on pleasing intervals. Emotion happens when you apply dissonance… heart… experience… into every note one plays.

I dislike the idea of college, high, middle, and elementary students using artificial intelligence as a short cut for their work. Boolean searches always find sources in places you wouldn’t expect. I would love to have access to the college library system for a couple hundred dollars a year to do actual research and lose myself in academic studies that could actually make our lives better. This rich tub of knowledge helps one think. Artificial intelligence just gives you a bunch of words that link answers to fit specific questions, but they don’t make one think of outside the box for big new awesome solutions. Plagiarism through technology is still plagiarism.

But… we.. have.. the.. tools… So did our ancestors. They just used a library, a typewriter, and notecards. I used a library, a computer, and dozens of pdf’s. None of us asked a computer to write our term paper. How can you develop a voice in your writing if it rambles on like a sterile circuit without nuanced language?

Have I used artificial intelligence? Read the third paragraph. It has been forced upon me. I have made a couple of images on the ChatGPT artificial intelligence for specific purposes, but that is the extent of it. My wife uses it more for writing than I do, she works in special education and IEP’s are enormously time consuming to create. The funny thing though, she asks me to proofread the AI. I end up having to change language as the technology does not understand nuance….

I support Mayor Mandami’s proclamation that artificial intelligence will not be used until high school. We need to revert back to paper and pencil, and thinking through problems instead of asking… Hey ChatGPT what are factors of 1,265,328? Or how many 9’s are in the first 100 digits of Pi. Or how many apples are on a fruit truck with a cubic area of 1200 feet?

We have an Alexa in our home. I ask it the question of the day. My wife likes to have conversations that puzzle the AI or catch the AI in nuanced failures. I have asked many times if it could erase its operating system, or root bios commands. I’ve even asked it to turn the lights off in specific Amazon properties. I guess the programmers don’t find creative people like me who are against AI very amusing as they are separate programs within the AI framework, and impervious to simple hacking attempts.

Maybe I will ask Alexa to calculate the angles in a circle next, or to design a warp conduit using spaghetti and heavy water.

We don’t need AI for our daily lives. We don’t need it to make things easier. We have written and broadcast resources at our convenience. If you want to know how traffic is in Chicago, tune into WGN Radio and you will get a report on the 8’s of the hour or some such regularity. Sirius XM has traffic channels too. I learned how to drive in Chicago simply by listening to traffic reports and looking at a map. I memorized it. Maybe that is why my friends ask me to drive in the city…. lol…

Artificial intelligence can be useful. I feel it should be used strictly for scientific and medical research. I want to see some genetic treatments for cancer, or how medications affect certain DNA profiles. Or use the calculation of the probability of transporter technology, warp drive, or resource management in space. Another possibility is using AI to study the economic and sociological constructs of particular bills before congress. Play out varying models and examining the loopholes or dangers. I want it to be used to make everyone’s life better. Humanism before capitalism.

I think all of those ideas are much more useful than wasting processing time and data on $47 fantasies to post on his truth social. The man is deluded with his AI images of him as a savior of the people dressed as clergyman. What a waste of energy. Obviously he doesn’t work or read anything. He is very much like Camacho from Idiocracy.

Humanity always takes its most advanced tools and uses them for leisure rather than thinking, working, and theorizing different ways to examine sociological data. In the words of my favorite author Kurt Vonnegut, “We will become the first civilization to fail, because it wasn’t cost effective.”
