As I read the news today and then read various social media posts of friends and acquaintances I have become a little aggravated with the narrow lens so many people look at events from. The thing that really upsets me was the Kirk shooting was given more press than the Colorado school shooting. It seems political opinion influencers are more important than the children who went to school today to learn, but had their futures erased. All people are not created equal in the United States

I’m upset that some renegade decided to make a Republican talking head a martyr today. I’m even more upset that Republicans celebrated the deaths of Democratic representatives earlier this year while Democratic leaders frowned on the violence today with Kirk’s death. Where is the compassion? The double standard is not lost on me. All people are not created equal in the United States

I’m not victim blaming. It isn’t Kirk’s fault he was murdered today. It isn’t his fault his family is now traumatized. I feel bad for them, I do. What is Kirk’s fault is his endorsement of political violence, conspiracy theory, false premises regarding all number of political opinions, and his rationalization that gun deaths are an acceptable loss for having the 2nd amendment (is that irony?) Words matter, and they can stoke extremism. Kirk was no stranger to conservative extremism. He made a hell of good living stoking the extreme lies of his party. Sadly, someone else’s extremism took his life. All people are not created equal in the United States.

Words matter in our lives. I stand beside mine and accept responsibility. I fully expect my blog will be used against me when the USA falls into a police state resulting in my imprisonment and hard labor. I already see the double standard of my privilege and how it can be used against me. Today, Republican influencers and officials need to reflect on their rhetoric for the sake of their loved ones. Please reflect on this, I beseech thee. This free speech rhetoric that you are constitutionally exploiting has extreme consequences by those who take issue with it literally. Please reflect. Kirk needs to be the last victim of the war of words stoked by Kevin Roberts.

“…the revolution will be bloodless if the left allows it.” – Kevin Roberts – Heritage Foundation Head (Project 2025 coordinator.)

In the violence of death we are all created equal…

I’m all for free speech, but once we use that free speech we have zero control of how others are going to use it, interpret it, or act on it. How many remember January 6, 2017? This is what happens when free speech only applies to one political party. This is what fascism looks like. All people are not created equal in the United States.

Where was the concern or responsibility for this type of speech by Kirk? $47? Hegseth? Vance? I don’t think they ever consider it. The privilege of a wealthy white male christian nationalists know no limits. There is an arrogance at work here that defies logic. They are so indoctrinated into their myth of exceptionalism they can’t see how their own actions put people, particularly citizens, and their families at risk. The children especially have no control over the trauma and false narratives their parents may be gaslighting them into believing. Exceptionalism demonstrates all people are not created equal.

Whomever is alleged to have murdered Kirk, I hope they are held accountable to the letter of the law. We need to know what the motivation for this horrendous act is. We need to discuss and analyze what caused this, how it was rationalized, what are all the variables? We need to use this tragic event as a turning point to halt the madness of this fascist right take over. Serious discussions on responsibility of speech need to be had by the political right. The rhetoric in use is violent. Violence as metaphor, or as an action is unacceptable… but in the eyes of the exceptional conservative right… all people are not created equal.

My heart is with those grieving today due to senseless gun violence. May each victim find some sort of peace or grace within themselves. If this doesn’t wake up the establishment, we are indeed cursed to continue repeating the same errors of arrogance over and over again…. because all people are not created equal… in the United States.

Hug your children. Kiss your spouse. Talk to your neighbor. Take responsibility. This is on all American citizens. Stop the madness please!!! …so it goes…
