The Bad Nightmare

By

Hello reader! It has been about a week since I have written a blog. The daily transgressions of the $47 presidencies have been a little overwhelming. I needed to reflect on some things before writing again. The reflection was caused by some acquantances. These acquaintances wrote a couple of things that just baffled me. One was, “You are the most biased person I know,” referring to my attacks on his party. The second was, “Everyone used to be able to have an opinion.” This was in reference to a meme I reposted. Both acquaintances must be tired of my relentless attacks on their fearless leader.

Yes, I have been attacking this administration and those that support him. I identify as a democratic socialist, but I was raised as a conservative Republican. I guess you can say, I’ve come full circle. I made the transition by questioning and researching public policy. You dig deep enough you begin to see patterns in behavior. It was shocking to me to see how American politics has gotten to this place. The conservative policy of my youth is now completely devoid of the Lincoln ideals that began their ascendency into prominence.

Anyway the professional acquaintance that called me the most biased person ever. This individual is projecting his anger for being held accountable for this atrocity. This is typical behavior of someone that is indoctrinated in a mindset. I support conservative ideals when it comes to spending, but the Republicans of today do not care about spending or budgets. They only care about lining their pockets at the expense of the American people. I’m sure this is a bitter pill to face, and the confirmation bias they practice is out of desperation. I wonder how they will feel about the cuts to Medicaid and Medicare, or when they try to privatize Social Security. I’m sure they will enjoy the $10 eggs that are just around the corner. This individual still believes that trickle-down economics works despite dozens of studies that say otherwise. Unfortunately this individual doesn’t read studies. Their ignorance is not equal to anyone’s intelligence. Their belief is not the same as actual facts that are irrefutable in their presentation. As for being blindly biased by their accusation, nope. I have a liberal bias, but I respect logical arguments for conservative premises. Unfortunately there isn’t any logic being presented by Republicans. Their whole arrogant message is short and sweet as it stokes the hate, anger, and bias of their ranks.

Now for the second professional acquaintance. Well, they are more than an acquaintance. Their family has been in my life since grade school. I have no problem with anyone having an opinion. What I have a problem with is how an educated individual like they are supports the positions outlined in the meme. It seems the only opinion they value is their own. No other opinion is valid. What makes the issue worse is their support of discrimination against LGBTQ individuals, their support of rhetoric that is undemocratic, and their blatant disregard of factual information. I do not have a problem with their opinion, but when it persecutes another citizenry I feel it is necessary to call them out on their prejudices and dehumanizing bias. If that hurts their feelings… well, too bad. You don’t seem to have a problem hurting others, so suck it up and deal with it.

The second issue I have is the narcissistic victimization that this acquaintance, $47, and the Republican Party claim for being held accountable. Like the Bad Catholic’s self victimization of protestors disrupting his walk with his daughter. This is so blasé. When are the Republicans going to realize that direct criticism of their prejudices does not make them victims? Let’s be honest here. Y’all are shitty people using a bully pulpit founded on a single stool leg of pretend Christianity and we are done putting up with your psychobabble arrogance, superiority, and dumb fuckery. You can have your biased prejudicial opinion. You can shove that biased prejudicial opinion up one’s ass all I care. If you can’t be a decent human being to all people (foreign and domestic) then your conservative values mean nothing. You stand for nothing. Your argument for doing what you are doing is as shallow as a zero depth pool. This goes double for the representatives that refer to Representative Sarah McBride in the wrong gender. Sarah is a she. Her constituents elected HER to that office. If you can’t respect this humanistically then you simply have no integrity to hold the office y’all hold. She is the congressional representative from Delaware.

Then I read in various sources that sexuality conversion therapy for minors is being considered again. This is child abuse. Then I read that lawmakers in Texas are more concerned with names that may represent DEI in some form more than they are concerned about Measles. When does this idiotic nightmare end? Who elected these mentally ill people to represent them in governance? Where are these peoples ethics? How did they get to such positions with such fractured lines of right and wrong? I hope we can come together and stop this… Hey world (Not Russian, China, or North Korea,) there are a lot of Americans that are on your side of democracy! Please don’t forget about us, we haven’t forgot about you.

I took some time away to reflect on these passive-aggressive attacks by these acquaintances. I tried to look at it from their perspective in the same line of conservative thought I was raised in. Was I justified in reposting the meme, or any of the information from Robert Reich, the American Humanist Association, United Humanists, Heather Cox Richardson, or some other source I can verify? I feel that without a doubt I was justified. These acquaintances have fallen from grace pretty far. They can go eat their privilege, sit in their pile of Republican rubbish, and enjoy the smell. I know my biases. I know my preferences, and I’m just going to be honest with them. You are not good people if you will stand in line with the charlatans in power who are destroying the United States and the democratic world order. To see America go on the U.N. Human Rights Watch List should be a wake up call for them, but… they all don’t read their news. They watch Fox News Entertainment. …and so it goes…
